Introduction and history

The Tagal tribe is a minority in Sarawak. They live in the interior areas, mostly in the districts of Limbang and Lawas, especially nearby the state of Sabah’s boundary that are Merapok and Sindumin.

This tribe in Long Tengoa, Long Inau and Tang Sango B known as Tagal Kolor, has different dialect and pronunciation as those who live in Ulu Merapok and Sindumin in Sipitang, Sabah.

The Tagal tribe is one of the bunches of the Murut ethnic. However, there are differences in the customs and culture than that of the ethnic. Hence, in Sarawak this tribe is categorised under the Orang Ulu ethnic.
