Introduction and history
This dance is based on a song composed by a songwriter named Cik Lang from Kampung Bukit Kecik, Padang Siding, Perlis. He created the song while soothing a child in a cradle. The song was composed during the period when Perlis was under Siamese rule. Cik Lang was also an active member of the Gendang Terinai group, and this song was often played during Gendang Terinai music performances. In addition to the Cik Lang song, he also composed the song Cik Minah Sayang, named after his wife, Cik Minah.
