Introduction and history
Kabbadi is a traditional game played by the Malaysian Indians who originate in South India. It requires a court drawn on a field or in a large hall. A team may have seven to twelve players and typically a game takes twenty minutes to complete.
The game is believed to be able to produce clever, confident and all-rounded players in sports. Kabaddi also may cultivate one to be patriotic, acknowledging national integration and forging mutual respect among each other.
Kabaddi plays a role in uniting Malaysian citizens as it is often played in traditional sporting events, which is played by all.
Funtion of the Court
To play, a square shaped court etched with midline and baulk lines. The lines parallel to the midline are the baulk lines. The attackers have to touch or nudge the opposing players by stepping on the baulk lines, and stop them from entering the subsequent marked area.
Sports clothing
Players are divided into two teams: the attackers and defenders. One attacking player is to run past the midline trying to nudge one of the defenders. The attackers may use their hands, feet and other ways to touch the defenders.
If the defending player gets nudged, he loses, thus removed from the court. After touching as many, the attackers return to their area.
