PASEMBOR SALAD

Pasembor or
Pasembur, also known as Malaysian Indian Salad. This dish is rojak consisting
of shrimp fritters, Mayang cucumber, onion, sweet potato, tofu, bean sprouts, dried shrimp,
spiced fried crab, and fried squid served with a sweet and spicy peanut sauce.
The sauce is almost the same as a gado-gado sauce or satay sauce. This dish is
usually eaten in hi-tea time or in the evening as a regular meal as a vegetable menu if not mixed
with seafood.
Traditionally, rojak hawkers consisting of Indian Muslims (mamak) use motorcycles as counter stalls for the preparation and sale of this dish. Most of the hawkers now travel using small trucks and there are many in the Padang Kota Lama area, Penang, and the Gurney Drive area.
