NASI KANDAR (RICE BASKET CARRIED ON THE SHOULDER)

Nasi Kandar is
very popular in the north of Peninsular Malaysia, especially Penang, but is now
loved by Malaysians throughout the country. The term Nasi Kandar is said to
originate from the way this food hawker drove or carried a wooden basket on the shoulder containing
food in ancient times.
This rice is accompanied by a variety of dishes such as beef, fried chicken, curry liver, fish roe, fried shrimp or squid, papadom, and other side dishes, eaten with vegetables such as brinjal, okra, or bitter gourd that are fried or boiled as a side dish.
