PULLING THE ARECA FROND

Tarik Pelepah Pinang or also known with the name Tarik Upih is a traditional game since time immemorial. This game uses areca or coconut frond as the basic tool. This game can also be played in groups between two to four people or more depending on mutual agreement.

A player sits at the base of the frond as the rider while other players pull it as if the rider is riding on a sampan. This method is played in rotation. If a competition is held the fastest team is deemed as the winner. Riders who fall down cannot continue the game.
