COCONUT SHELL RACE

This game has similarities with Terompah Gergasi but different in terms of tools used. Lumba Tempurung is played in groups of a minimum of two people with no maximum limit depending on the size of the playing area or space.

This traditional game of the Malay community is based on halved coconut shell with holes punched in the middle for inserting a rope. A player has to place a foot each on top of the shells with the rope inserted in between the big toe and the index toe. The player then walks by taking steps while pulling the rope for body balance.
