SCATTER THE PALM LEAF RIBS

SCATTER THE PALM LEAF RIBS

This game is named Serak Lidi because the main tool is the lidi or rib of a palm leaf but, nowadays ice cream sticks are also used. The origin of this game cannot be ascertained. However, it expanded throughout the Malay Peninsula in the early 1970s.

This game is played at least by two people. Player turns are determined by the "wan to som" or "o som" method. A player clenches all the lidi and then releases them onto the floor. Next, the player needs to pick up the scattered lidi one by one without moving the others. If the opposite happens then that player"s game turn ends. The winner is determined by the most number of lidi picked up.
