MINTUBOW (TOP SPINNING)

Mintubow
or Top Spinning is a traditional game of the Malay and Bidayuh communities in
Sarawak. Normally this game is played after the paddy harvesting season and
competed between villages. The winner is declared based on the duration the top
can spin.
Basically the top is made of hard wood species whereas the top's rope is made from the 'bebaru' tree hard wood type specie. Nowadays, however, the top's rope is also made of nylon rope. The length of the rope usually depends on the length of a player\s hand or about 1 meter. Coconut oil is used to smooth the rope's movement.
