ENGKALA FRUIT

With its scientific name Litsea Garciae, the Engkala Fruit is akin to avocado, and abundantly found in Sarawak as well as sold at agro bazaars. The unripe fruit is green and turns to pinkish when ripe. The fruit needs to be soaked in warm water for seven to 10 minutes before consumed with salt. The flesh has a rich sweet taste.
