JOHOL STEAMED CAKE

Apam Johol is said to have originated from
Johol in Negeri Sembilan as many food entrepreneurs and makers live
in this area. This traditional cake is also known as Apam Daun Rambai (Rambai
Steamed Cake) as it is wrapped in the Rambai (a type of fruit) leaves. There
are also wide other varieties such as Apam Putih (Steamed White Cake), Apam
Berkuah (Steamed Cake With Gravy), Apam Pelangi (Steamed Rainbow Cake), and
Apam Polkadot (Steamed Polka Dot Cake).
This cake is normally made of rice flour, yeast, coconut milk, and sugar which makes it fluffy, soft, and not too sweet. The cake is eaten with sambal gravy, rendang, pea porridge, meat gravy, and durian gravy or rendang also stir-fried chili.
