THE CULTURE AND CUSTOM OF THE SIAMESE COMMUNITY OF PENGKALAN HULU, PERAK: WEDDING

The marriage custom of this Siamese community begins with enquiring, then getting engaged, fixing the date of marriage solemnisation and ends with the wedding itself. Most would-be couples choose to hold all the marriage ceremonies on the same day. For example, getting engaged in the morning, the marriage solemnisation in the afternoon and the marriage reception in the evening.
The bride wedding gown is the Chut Thai Pra Yook, a modified version of the traditional attire Thai Chakkri. The groom attire is called Suea Bhararatcha meaning jolly costume.
